“Life is too short to waste a second for what you don’t like, as merely the time to do what you like is not enough”. That’s the inspirational mantra written across the wall at the entrance of this quaint St Kilda café, which takes its name from the last four letters of both owners’ names. Inside you’ll find a modern fit out, and eye catching features like a vintage brass fire extinguisher that sits in front of a fireplace, creating a warm homely feel in the lower level of this split level venue.
The exposed Kitchen sits at the front of the café, creating a theatrical element, which invites patrons to watch as their food is prepared. The coffee counter is tucked away at the rear of the cafe, and lined with black and white subway tiles.
The Modern Thai menu features fresh options such as the Golden Pork Belly Salad on a bed of Asian crunchy salad, Thai Basil Beef Burger, Chicken Green Curry, and Masman Lamb Curry. They also have vegetarian alternatives, such as Five Spiced glazed tofu, and Deep Fried Soft Boiled Eggs with tamarind glaze. The weekend brunch menu contains Warm Belgium Waffles, Pandan Kaya on Toast, and Pork Belly Congee with pickled ginger and crispy vermicelli.
Using traditional French methods, their patisserie dishes out some delightful sweets, like the Black Sesame White Chocolate Roulade, and Pandan Éclairs.
Coffee is from Five Senses, and their house blend made for a clean cup, with a medium body, and cocoa finish. This blend is composed of a washed Costa Rican San Lorenzo, and washed Nicaraguan La Florencia.
