Thornbury’s much loved Short Round, is a clean stylish corner spot, with ample space, and flair to match. The venue itself has boundless character and is dotted with greenery. The space has polished Baltic floorboards, timber stools and tables, exposed brick walls, pastel coloured tiles, and large windows that allow an abundance of light to flow through.
The menu is inventive, and showcases fresh, locally sourced ingredients. All day options include the Pumpkin & Goats curd omelette with sweet onion marmalade, Black sesame rice cakes with pickled kohlrabi, Port Phillip Snapper Ceviche with red quinoa & green chilli, and Southern style buttermilk fried chicken with house made bbq sauce.
Coffee is from Proud Mary, and their house blend is the Eagle Vision, while their black coffees were made using the Burundi Matura Hills lot from Industry Beans. Filter of the day was the Ethiopian Aricha, and I couldn’t resist its Amazing fruit character. My cup was loaded with strawberry jam flavours.
They also had a special tea menu from Somage, with Chamelia Special Reserve teas such as Anji Bai Cha, Bai Hao Oolong, and Jasmine Pearl.
