Herbert lives in what once was a warehouse, and is hidden behind the hustle and bustle of busy High Street. The venue has been designed with relaxation in mind, both inside and out. They’ve made use of as much natural light as possible, as well as concrete features, and timber panelled shelving that house paperback books.
Coffee is roasted by Padre, and their seasonal blend had a rich creamy body, with chocolate notes on the finish.
The menu is simple, with less than a dozen all day breakfast options; but the aroma flowing from the kitchen was far from simple. I could smell delicious caramelised onions, which was probably from the Garlic Mushroom burger with roast peach, or perhaps from the Baked Egg with chorizo, spicy tomato and onion shakshuka.
This is the kind of place you can sit and unwind with a book, or meet friends for brunch on a lazy Sunday morning.
