The name of this Newport cafe pays homage to the previous milkbar that once occupied this corner spot. The inside has a certain charm and warmth, with its rustic white washed timber features, copper light shades, and original polished floorboards. The side wall also boasts art in the form of a painted milkman, as well as black birds that hang from the ceiling.
The three group Synesso delivers espresso roasted by Gridlock. Today’s offering was a washed Nicaraguan bourbon/catuai, which had a rich body, with deep choc malt flavours.
The menu is loaded with all the usual favourites you’d expect to find in the likes of fitzroy; many of which are vegetarian. Breakfast includes Blueberry & Ricotta hotcakes with lemon curd, and Sweet potato & Halloumi fritters with chunky salsa. The lunch menu features a selection of toasted Pides with filled such as homemade falafels, parmesan crusted chicken & avocado creme; as well as Fish Tacos served with mango salsa, Beef sliders on brioche, and Sesame coated chicken meatballs with lime dipping sauce and Asian slaw.
