Remember the three wise monkeys proverb- ‘See no evil, Hear no evil, Speak no evil’, which signified good mind, speech, and action? Well I do, and that’s exactly what I thought of when I visited this Doncaster Café. ‘Donny’ to the locals, is not a suburb known for its abundance of cafes. Which is what inspired Lina, Dennis, and Sam to bring the inner urban café culture out to the burbs. These three monkeys weren’t in when I made the trek out east, but their staff were most affable. I sat within the rustic surrounds of the café, where I noticed a baby blue theme running. Out back was a large courtyard, with ample seating, which appeared rather inviting.
In the hopper was a Rwandan Microlot from The Maling Room. This washed Bourbon from the Ngoma region had sweet berry notes, with sparkling acidity.
I noticed the menu had a modern theme, with an Asian accent. Breakfast includes House cured salmon with fennel, horseradish cream cheese, rosti & poached eggs, Corn Fritters with crispy egg, indo chilli sauce, peanut, coriander & papaya salad, and The Sweet Monkey Roti pancakes with banana, mixed berries, crumble, mascarpone & maple syrup. They also have Slow roast pork with black garlic oil, carrot puree, bacon, egg noodle & star anise reduction, the “MR. HERMIT” Soft shell crab burger with charcoal bun, and Honey walnut bresaola salad with 90 day house cured beef.
