While the average Carpenter is skilled in working with wooden objects, this heir of a Carpenter has not only inherited such skills, but has the additional talent of being a successful cafe designer & operator.
The carpenter’s son was not in when I dropped in, however, I had the pleasure of meeting his wife Lily. It turns out, this recently opened Brunswick cafe is the brainchild of Vince Mazzone, the man behind Tre Bicchieri, Espresso Alley, and Tre Espresso. Initially, they designed the venue as a bar, but decided they valued their sleep a little more than they originally thought. The upholstered booths allow for privacy, and are warmly lit by wall mounted lamps. The elongated bar is lined with cushioned stools, and a brand new Linea PB sits behind it pumping out Coffee Supreme. Today’s single origin in the Mythos One was a natural Brazilian from Sao Jose. It had a fruity aroma, with a smooth mouthfeel. Worked a treat black.
The menu focuses on real food that’s organically and ethically grown, with dishes ordered under the headings Grains, Egg, Sandwiches/Toasties, Bowls, and Italian. Stand out options include Quinoa porridge with Acai, Almond Milk, & Berries, Roasted mushrooms on spelt polenta & buckwheat bread topped with hummus, 63 degree eggs, truffle oil, and the Breakfast pizza with asiago cheese, grilled pancetta, and egg.
The Carpenter’s Son offers a stylish alluring setting, with nourishing food fare.
