What began as a small coffee pop-up in Box Hill, has grown into a beautifully crafted venue on busy Whitehorse Road. The penny dropped when the owners realised the potential this area had, after seeing how eager their custom were for their service, and thus realised the gap in the market for such an all-day eatery.
The Penny Drop seats 100 people, and has been masterfully designed by We Are Huntly. It boasts smooth curves, marble and brass features, high ceilings, and lots of sleek lines, which all combine to create a warm inviting space. Even their menu is made from American oak, leather, and brass. The difference definitely is in the detail.
Their modern Australian menu features some creative breakfast, lunch and dinner options. Some impressive breakfast options include the Buttermilk Hotcake Stack with Coconut foam, black sesame & pistachio dukkah, the Potato & Garlic Chive Waffles with hollandaise & wakame, the Tea Smoked Salmon, and the Sweet & Sour Pork Knuckles with fried duck egg, and Fuji apple.
Coffee is by Ducale, and had a bold body, with deep dry cocoa notes.
