SOS Cafe

Toorak Road is ‘Saving our Souls’ on these cold Autumnal mornings, with delicious food fare, and steadfast coffee.

SOS is nestled at the back of South Yarra Square, and neighbours The King’s Domain Barbershop. The first thing I noticed was its sheer elegance, which was as alluring as the aroma of fresh coffee that permeated the air. The decor is charming, with gold pendant lights, geometrically pleasing marble tiled walls and bar, and fresh white walls which accentuate the scattered succulents.

The modern Australian menu is driven by nourishing eats, and is diverse enough to cater for everyone. There’s a Primal Plate, which as the name suggests, it focused on those living the Paleo lifestyle, while there’s also delicious fluffy Tiramisu Pancakes, Wild Mushroom Baked Eggs on crusty sourdough, Hipster Jars, Beef Tacos, and a variety of organic Salads on display.

The staff are charmingly cheeky, and a breath of fresh air first thing in the morning. Coffee is from St Ali , and extracted on a customised 2 group Linea. The St Ali Orthodox Blend is made up of 40% Colombia Valle de Laboyos, and 60% Brazil Fazenda Sertaozinho.

My long black was wonderfully rich, with sweet caramel notes.
