Style and finesse has made its way to Chesterville Road, Bentleigh East. This modern cafe is family run, and I had the pleasure of meeting one of the siblings, Adam, who previously worked at Pillars of Salt in Richmond. He teamed up with his sister, and have together filled a void in this residential suburb, that neighbours the industrial section of moorabbin. The inspiration for its name came from their childhood love of Astroboy, and their appreciate for quality. The space has been carefully designed by Robson Rak; award winning architectures that specialise in holistic and innovative design.
The walls have had a fresh lick of paint with soft pastel tones, and the dining area is furnished with Tartan banquettes. The elongated room is gently lit by led lighting strips that are set into the bottom of a black framework, which runs along the side walls and counter.
Much like the fit out, the menu is creative, with seasonal ingredients that are both wholesome and nutritious. Breakfast features Organic chickpeas & hummus with sauteed white beans, Pancakes with red fruit & gingerbread yoghurt, and Poached eggs with Baba Ganoush & walnut Labna. The lunch options consist of a signature Astroluxe burger, and a selection of salads, such as the Asian beef soba noodle salad.
Coffee is locally sourced from Five Senses, and their Tightrope blend had a sweet juicy profile, which is most likely from its Ethiopian Sidama Ardi component. Just how I like it.
