Highfield Road Camberwell – Thats where the Dish and Spoon ran away too!
Oh sweet relief! I can finally close the book on the ‘Hey diddle diddle’ nursery ryhme mystery.
The Dish & Spoon recently took up residence at this leafy eastern suburb venue, and I want to know- what took them so long?! Im assuming thats what the surrounding neighbourhood must be asking, having witnessed locals flock to this inviting cafe in droves this morning. The ambiance at Dish + Spoon is warm and cosy, and the fit out is modern, with white washed walls, a large counter lined with white subway tiles, and a sunny outdoor courtyard. The striking orange La Marzocco Linea pumps out coffee by Campos, with both rotating single origin beans, and a house blend.
The menu is Middle Eastern inspired, with breakfast options such as Smashed Avo Dukkah Eggs, Chia Polenta Chips, Shakshouka, and Wild Mushroom Ragout. Lunch varies from Mushroom Risotto, Angus Beef Burger, through to a selection of freshly made wraps and salads made from local seasonal produce.
I sat at the front window, watching as people flowed in and filled the dining area, while sipping on my long black made using the Colombian Rodriguez Ospina. The barista pulled a tight shot, which allowed for a punchy cup, with loads of complexity. From soft vanilla through to choc malt, this was one impressive coffee.
