Little Pony had a soft opening over the weekend, and I had the pleasure of visiting this fresh space on Camberwell Road, and meeting its owner Tiana. Little Pony is a reflection of Tiana’s admiration for all things equine, in particular, their intelligent, modest, and effervescent personalities.
This Little Pony is located at the Camberwell junction, opposite the iconic art-deco Rivoli Cinema, and a mere stone’s throw from the popular Camberwell Sunday Market.
The Camberwell shopping precinct is one of the oldest shopping strips in Melbourne, but the history of specialty coffee in the area is still young. Being a local resident, Tiana thought it was time the junction was revived. With the assistance of Zwei Interiors, an award winning team that also designed Code Black Coffee North Melbourne, Tiana transformed a former florist shop into a vibrant café, with a Tiffany Blue theme, and light timber features. A custom La Marzocco Linea PB and freshly baked muffins sit atop the marble counter, and dotted greenery livens up the sun drenched room. The grinders are filled with Proud Marys Humbler blend, which is made up of beans from Colombia, Brazil, and Indonesia. My long black had a bold body, with rich chocolate notes. Batch brew is also available, thanks to the trusty Moccamaster.
The menu is simple, yet nutritious, with a selection of vegan options. Pastries and breads are sourced from Noisette, while jams and dressings are all made in house. All day options include Vanilla & Coconut Porridge with grilled banana; Blueberry & Ricotta Dutch baby pancakes; Kale, pea, and ricotta fritters; and a selection of Roti Wraps and Salads.
Giddy up, Camberwell!
