The latest café/restaurant to grace Johnson Street is located on a quiet corner not too far from Everyday Coffee, and is named after the street it sits on. The brains behind Brunswick Stalwarts Wide Open Road and A Minor Place have opened a vintage style space in what once was the Heart of Europe restaurant. The light shades have an art deco feel, and the main bar and window counter is edged with brass. Actually, there are lots of smooth curves and arches, upholstered stools, and comfy booths in the back dining section. What’s more, the large windows allow for ample natural light, which does distinguish this café come restaurant
Coffee is roasted by Wide Open Road, and their black signature blend had a bold body, with chocolates and toffee notes.
The menu is split into Breakfast & Lunch, and Dinner, and they have a fully licensed bar you can order beer, wine, and spirits from. Options range from Texas toast, Hot Cakes, Sardines on toast, right through to Fried hot chicken Sandwiches, and roast broccoli salad. Dinner Hor D’oeuvres include Oysters, Duck Live Cannoli, and Wild Boar Meatloaf, while mains range from Whole Fried chicken with gravy, Mussels, through to Hearty Vegan Goulash.
