Mount Waverley has long been arid land when its comes to specialty coffee. That was until South Society moved in last year. This large cafe come restaurant, has certainly addressed the severe lack of available quality coffee, and is hard to miss, being located on the corner of the Pinewood shopping centre entrance. The first thing that caught my eye as I walked in was the workhorse Linea classic pumping out St Ali coffee. I quickly took my seat at the sun drenched communal table, and watched as flocks of hungry diners flooded in for Sunday brunch. On the menu is a range of breakfast and lunch options, such as Jaffa Nutella French Toast with poached oranges; Chilli Scrambled eggs; Pulled Beef brisket on sourdough; Fried calamari; and the Asian style Crab Burger.
In my cup?
St Ali Orthodox blend, made up of 40% Colombia Valle de Laboyos & 60% Brazil Fazenda Sertaozinho. My long black was rich, with caramel sweetness.
