The Q on Harris.
I was fortunate enough to meet Benji, a true proponent of the Indonesian coffee industry, whose passion is evident the moment you ask him about “Toraja Coffee”.
This warm bright space in Ultimo has been pumping out Indonesian coffee for almost three years now.
Truth be told, I’ve never been a number one ticket holder for Indonesian coffee, but being a coffee enthusiast, I’m always open to learning, and experiencing all the coffee world has to offer. Benji, owner of Q coffee and Indonesian born himself, explained that “Toraja Coffee” as a brand, was born in the 1970s. Today, the focus is on training and educating farmer on picking and sorting ripe cherries, best practice for full wash processing method, and drying beans to Toarco standard. Furthermore, strict sorting and packing methods are employed, and cupping is conducted throughout the process to assure quality and consistency. Such is the mission at “Toarco Toraja Coffee”, to ensure the farmers of Toraja are paid well for their hard work, and quality coffee.
I’ll drink to that!
