Cuckoo Callay

“And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
He chortled in his joy”.

I discovered Cuckoo Callay on my way to catch the train back to Central. It’s just outside Newtown railway station, and has a wonderful outdoor area where diners sit and soak up the sun while sipping on their lattes.

The owners must love the Cuckoo Clock; there’s a large one suspended from the ceiling inside the cafe, which is colourful and striking. What also captured my attention, was the Synesso MVP pumping out a Coffee Alchemy blend, along with a cold drip tower brewing a PNG single origin offering.

Their house blend is composed of beans from Colombia, Brazil, and Ethiopia. As a short black, it had rich chocolate notes, with hazelnut on the finish.
