Great coffee, all day long. Literally.
No it’s not a tribute to the 1960s American fictional band.
Rather, this gorgeous cafe come bar after dark, is named after the owner’s son, Archer, and is located on Fitzroy’s much-loved Gertrude Street. You know the street, it’s also home to De Clieu, Sonido, and Donut Shop.
Inside you’ll find a vibrant fit out, with white-painted bluestone walls, vintage 1970s painting adorning the snug dining area, warm drop down lights, a turntable spinning the vinyl, and a large bar crammed with wine, spirits, and a selection of craft beers. Not to forget, the black Synesso pumping out Proud Mary’s finest espresso blend- The Ghost Rider.
This blend reminded me of a natural Ethiopian. Its loaded with a jammy richness, and lush fruit notes. No surprises here, it’s made up of 70% natural Ethiopian, and 30% natural Brazilian. Any wonder this blend has won awards, it’s so a versatile. My other half devoured his Latte within minutes, thanks to its buttery body, and exceptional sweetness. Meanwhile, my long black was on par with the best of them. You just can’t go wrong with a jammy body, coupled with a smooth fruit finish that lingers long after your cup is dry.
They’re open til late, so there’s a breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu; as well as a fully licensed bar for after work drinks. Breakfast includes Coddled Eggs with potato puree and truffle salt; Roasted Cauliflower hummus with crispy kale; Smashed Avocado with pepita dukkah; and Hot Smoked Ora King Salmon. Lunch ranges from Crumbed rockling fillet burgers, to the Crispy tofu bun with asian slaw and szechuan crunch; while dinner offerings include Japanese rare beef salad; Korean BBQ Pork Belly; and the Juicy Lucy Wagyu Burger.
