Mont Albert’s most popular resident comes in the form of a contemporary cafe on Whitehorse Road.
Mister + Miss is housed in a former mechanic’s garage, and is named after owners Mr Dennis Chronis & Miss Christina Panettieri. The pair have been in hospitality for over 20 years, and met several years ago when Christina was managing Dennis’ cafe ‘Sugo’.
Designed by Maria Danos, the fit out is inspired by shapes & forms commonly found in a mechanic workshop. There’s a harmonious blend of industrial features with sophisticated style; punctuated by upholstered dining booths, exposed red brick walls, and perforated mesh light diffusers. With ample seating, and outdoor dining both in the courtyard and out front, there’s a real buzz & ambiance about the cafe.
Coffee is sourced from Axil , with a house blend that’s carefully crafted for the café, and rotating single origin beans for black coffee. Served in a stylish acme cup , my Brazilian Santa Barbara espresso had honeycomb sweetness, with hazelnut notes on the finish.
The menu is creative and filled with seasonal ingredients, catering for a range of dietary requirements. Breakfast includes the Crushed Avocado with poached eggs, feta, & grilled asparagus; and Buttermilk pancakes with vanilla mascarpone & berry compote. Lunch features a selection of carefully designed Pizza’s, Soft Shell Crab Burgers with pear slaw, and Panko crumbed Chicken Schnitz.
Open daily from 7am to 4pm, and 8am to 4pm Sundays, you’ll find Mister and Miss Cafe at 713 Whitehorse Road, Mont Albert.
