If Sloane Ranger feels familiar, then you’ve probably been to BAWA in Hawthorn. This Cremorne space flanks Richmond Station, and displays the hospital know-how of its owner Shri Bhagwandas’. With a name inspired by trendy upper-class Londoners from ‘Sloane Square’, Sloane Ranger boasts a classy yet industrial style interior with a lofty ceiling, and an abundance of concrete.
Being a former barista at Dukes, Shri decided to stick with Dukes as a coffee supplier, and offered me an Indonesian single origin as an espresso. Sourced from the Pango Pango region of Tana Toraja in Sulawesi, the Toarco Jaya had a syrupy body, with hints of spice on the finish.
Much like its sister café, BAWA, the food stands out most at Sloane Ranger. Chilli Scrambled Eggs are a must for breakfast, and they have an impressive Cheesy Cauliflower fritter dish with an Indian twist.
Open 7 days a week, you’ll find Sloane Ranger at 13 Cremorne St, Cremorne.
