Black Rock’s known for its picturesque shoreline, and bayside living. With the addition of Deusy Doo, it’s now home to Melbourne’s latest café/eatery focused on affordability without compromising quality. Owner Vincent Sciglitano is a veteran of hospitality, having previously owned Jimmy Jamz of Elwood and Brunswick, Banff Café St Kilda, and Milton Wine Bar in Elwood.
Deusy Doo has a laid back feel, taking inspiration from the stunning beachside views outside the window. Designer Erika Lancini brought that warm welcoming feel into the venue, emphasising soft pastel blue and grey tones, with light timber furnishings.
The fresh interior matches the all-day menu, which is based on Vincent’s humble philosophy of providing affordable meals that don’t compromise taste and quality. Being a family man himself, Vincent understands the importance of having a destination café/restaurant that’s both affordable and enjoyable for all members.
Coffee is sourced from St Ali, and breakfast options include Melbourne favourites like Smashed Avo, French Toast, and vegan breakfast bowls.
After 5:30 the restaurant menu kicks in, with pizzas, burgers, pastas, salads, wine, and beer. What captured my attention was the gluten free pizza, and vegan options that are not delegated to the side salads. While I am usually focused on coffee, being coeliac does at times shift my attention to the menu; especially when I see operators taking positive action to cater for food intolerances, which are inclusive and not dismissed as inconveniences.
You’ll find Deusy Doo at Shop 1, 300-302 Beach Road, Black Rock. Open daily from 8:00am to 10:00pm.
